The Resistance Committee has continued meeting through the summer months, and we are looking to expand into the fall. Our three subcommittees are working on Know Your Rights and Bystander Guides. We have tracked relevant lawsuits and set up state and federal legislative tracking for Guild issues. The Resistance Committee also coordinated training and staffed the Mass Defense hotline through the summer. We met for an in-person gathering in Brookline to enjoy snacks and discuss the bigger picture of our work together. All three subcommittees (Immigration; Trans Community Support; and Speech, Suppression, and Communication) are open to new ideas for trainings, materials, lawsuits, events, and other creative projects that serve immigrants, trans people, and activists targeted by the Trump regime. If you have an idea or would like to join an energizing group of Guild members, reach out to Urszula at nlgmass-director@riseup.net. We are in the process of setting up a committee email address, which will be distributed in future outreach.
The start of a new academic year is a moment of transition for the Resistance Committee. Our wonderful summer intern Fiona is heading back to college, our founding coordinator Emma is starting law school out of state, and other leaders are starting new jobs or semesters. Now is a great time to get involved! We need everyone to step up and work together to show our solidarity is stronger than our fear. Please reach out to join our next meeting on September 24 at 7pm via Signal video call.
