NLG-Mass Annual Dinner!

Last Friday, Oct. 23, the National Lawyers Guild-Massachusetts Chapter celebrated a year of hard work and achievements of our members – lawyers and law students – and of local activists who fight for the rights of the people and justice in the courts, classrooms, and on the streets of Massachusetts. While we were unable to meet in person, as we usually do, the warmth in the virtual gathering was carried clearly throughout the evening. It was a wonderful event – with music from a Cuban band Después Te Explico, playing for us straight from Havana! – and we hope to see you there next year (and hopefully in person)!

Our wonderful MC, Geraldine Hines navigated the program with poise, clarity and a clear appreciation for all of our honorees this year. Our honorees: Cosecha, Attorneys Andrew Fischer, Bonnie Tenneriello and Susan Church, and (now former) law students Deb Wilmer and  Anna Nathanson, delivered poignant speeches which were all, in their own ways, memorable and resonated with the audience.

This year, we had to bid farewell to a most devoted Guild member and tireless advocate in the fight for justice for the people, Attorney Martin Kantrovitz. A statement prepared by his son, Michael Kantrovitz was read, accompanied by a photo of Marty and followed by a moment of silence. We miss him dearly and hope to carry on his legacy in all of our work moving forward.

It was a wonderful event filled with love, laughs, good music and even better company.

Remembering Marty Kantrovitz
