Harvard Student Chapter working with Families for Justice as Healing

For our work with FJAH, I’ve been organizing with People Not Prisons (also called PNP, FJAH’s external volunteer/organizing formation) for the last year and a half or so. One of our members (Collette) also attends weekly legislative strategy meetings under PNP. Through that relationship, our chapter has found opportunities to support FJAH and PNP in their organizing campaigns. Recently, we held a student action hour focusing on the current prison moratorium campaign. We also drafted a letter of support for the bill and collected student signatures. We also did an “art build” for FJAH’s Valentine’s Day Rally for the prison moratorium bill where we cut out cardboard hearts and tabled during lunchtime to get students to decorate the hearts with messages of support. We also brought some blank hearts for people to decorate at the rally. We hung these hearts up on the statehouse fence, which made for a pretty striking visual!  (Image Gallery Included Below)
